Medal of Honor The highest Air Force decoration, Medal of Honor, is honored to enlisted members and officers who have renowned themselves by intrepidity and bravery in an action involving combat against an enemy of the United States. The medal consists of a gold star, which is inclined with trefoils and each point containing a crown of oak and laurel on a green enamel background. An eagle claw is attached to a star and a horizontal bar bearing the inscription ‘VALOR’. |

Air Force Cross It is the second highest military decoration that is awarded to the person by the United States government, who distinguishes herself or himself by an extraordinary heroism, but not justifying the award of a Medal of Honor. Gold-plated American bald eagle is centered on the front side of the bronze cross, and is surrounded by a laurel wreath in green enamel. |

Silver Star It is a third highest military award that is awarded to a person who is engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force or to a person for his gallantry in action against an enemy of the United States. This medal is a gold five-pointed star with a laurel wreath surrounding rays from the center and a silver star (3/16 inch in diameter) is overlaid in the center. ‘FOR GALLANTRY IN ACTION’ is engraved on the reverse side. |

Airman’s Medal It is a military decoration of the United States Air Force, which is awarded to those service members who distinguish themselves by gallantry actions, generally at the voluntary risk of life, but not involving actual combat. There is a figure of Greek God Hermes (son of Zeus), resting on one knee. ‘AIRMAN’S MEDAL’ is engraved on the front side of the medal, while the reverse side of the medal bears the word ‘FOR VALOR’. |

Air Force Commendation Medal Air Force Commendation Medal is awarded to those members of the USAF, who have renowned themselves by acts of heroism or meritorious service. The medal is a bronze hexagon, with one point down and one point up. The seal of the Air Force and an eagle with wings spread is on the front side of the medal. |

Iraq Campaign Medal Iraq Campaign Medal, created by Executive Order 13363 of President George W. Bush, is awarded to any member of the United States Armed Forces who has performed duty within the borders of Iraq for period of sixty non-consecutive days or thirty consecutive days. ‘IRAQ CAMPAIGN’ is engraved on the obverse design, while the reverse design of the medal bears the words ‘FOR SERVICE IN IRAQ’. |

| American Campaign Medal The medal is awarded to a service member, who either performs one year of duty within the continental borders of the United States, or performs 60 non-consecutive days/30 consecutive days duty outside the borders of the U.S. This medal is 1 ¼ inches in diameter, bearing a sinking submarine, an offshore scene illustrating a cruiser, and an airplane underneath the inscription ‘AMERICAN CAMPAIGN’ on the front side. |
