US Naval OperationsThe Navy SEALs (Sea Air Land) is a special naval operational force that had a potential to get engage in unconventional warfare. Initially, this special force was commissioned by President Kennedy. This force uses high tactics and complex warfare. Below mentioned are few missions for this special naval force.

The First Vietnam War

The Vietnam War was started in 1963, where the United States Naval special operation team was sent to Danang, province of Vietnam.

They were sent to serve the directives of the CIA command of the Station Chief. This was the very first time the first war of Vietnam was detached from the naval special operation team. Later this team became a part of CINC or the chief commander of the theater forces of Vietnam.

Operation Anaconda

In 2002, naval special operation team initialized one of the famous operation called as Operation Anaconda, which was a part of Afghanistan invasion. In 2002, the Operation called as Enduring Freedom was conducted, which resulted in the capturing and killing of ASG terrorist leador. In March 2003, United States Navy took part in the invasion of Iraq, which was called as Operation Iraqi Freedom. During this war, a holistic and a dominant tactic of awe and shock were used. Airborne and ground attacks were carried out keeping the infrastructural damage and harm to the civilian life was kept at its minimum. With these operations, the US Navy operation lasted for very shorter time.

Special Operation Involvement

Since more and more special operations were advancing towards US Navy special operation team, their name was changed to Naval Special Welfare Group (formerly known as Naval Operations Support Groups). This team was often abbreviated as NSWG, until 1983 that the UDTs were called as Navy SEAL Team or SEAL delivery vehicle teams. During this time all the demolition underwater tactics came to be called as SEAL missions.
