US Marine Corp Famous Operations

Vietnam WarUnited States Marines are considered to be the beast of the earth as they have never lost a single war. They are recognized around the globe for their distinct techniques to trap enemies and prisoners, that can provide vital information most of the time. They are famous for amphibious assaults with an AAV broken down vehicle that does not work. They have performed brilliantly in many operations which involved good planning and implementation. Few famous US Marine Corps Operations are mentioned below.

Vietnam War

In 1966, The Marine Corps played a vital role in the Vietnam War in the battle at Khe Sanh, Con Thien, Hue City and Da Nang. USMC operated at the South Vietnam in the northern I corps Region. They were constantly involved against the NVA (North Vietnamese Army) and NLF (National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam), in the guerrilla war. They implemented Combined Action Programs along with military advisors. They returned in 1971, to evacuate Saigon. Vietnam was the largest war for Marine Corps which killed 13,091 people and wounded 51,392. Due to the concerning rotational policies, Marine Corps were send to Vietnam. They were award 57 Medals of Honor during this operation.

Iraqi Freedom Operation

Marines have served the Iraq War along with the Army’s Infantry Division. They started their operation in 2004, where they were responsible for the operation at the large desert region, Al Anbar Province, west of Baghdad. During their operation in 2004, the marines lead the city of Fallujah and also encountered intense conflicts in places such as Hit, Al-Qa’im and Ramadi. There was also a controversy based on Hamdania incident and Haditha killings. President Obama announced the withdrawal of all troupes by August 2010. Marine Corps officially accomplished their operation in January, 2010; and they handed over the responsibility of Al Anbar Provience responsibility to the US Army before returning.

Operation Enduring Freedom
American and Marine forces advanced towards Uzbekistan and Pakistan from the Afghan border in 2001 for the Operation called as Enduring Freedom. In November 2001, Marine Expeditionary Units were the first force that carried Operation Enduring Freedom. After Marine Corps occupied Kandahar Airport in December 2001, squadrons and Marine battalions started rotating through, in order to keep the Al-Qaeda and Taliban forces engaged. In order to improve the security; 7,000 Marine Corps in June 2009, were deployed to Afghanistan; which gave them the flexibility to started the new operation called as Strike off the Sward.
